Edmond, Oklahoma – One Dollar Wednesday launches today, with 3 iPad Apps available for 50% – 80% off for one day only. All applications on One Dollar Wednesday are only $0.99 USD. The applications available today for $0.99 are:

WriteRoom (regularly $4.99): WriteRoom is made for Writers. It is the original distraction-free writing environment. It attempts to create a quiet environment for the user to write. It includes Dropbox synced folders to keep the user’s documents organized, and also convenient features for writers like word count, an extended keyboard row for iPad, file search, screen brightness settings, and TextExpander support.

Battle Fleet (regularly $4.99): Battle Fleet is a WW2 naval strategy game. The user is put in command of a fleet of US or Japanese ships in the Pacific theater of war. The game features turn based gameplay allowing the user to move the fleet into position, aim individual turrets on each ship and sink the enemy fleet. It includes a single player campaign mode, and multiplayer modes on the same device or via Game Center.

Instant (regularly $1.99): Instant allows users to recreate the experience of using a Polaroid instant camera to the iPad. With the touch of a finger, users can shoot a new picture using the camera on the iPad or select an existing one from the photo album, apply an authentic Polaroid-like filter, add a Polaroid-style border and write text on it, and thus, compose a classic Polaroid instant photo.

Unlike most daily deal sites or bundles, which offer licenses for Mac or PC products, One Dollar Wednesday will include only iPad apps at at least 50% discounts. One Dollar Wednesday is the sister site of Two Dollar Tuesday, which offers $2 Mac apps in the Mac App Store every Tuesday.

Founder Mike Dattolo says that One Dollar Wednesday is beneficial to developers: “The hardest problem independent developers have to tackle is is obscurity – finding a way to get their apps noticed,” he says. Since One Dollar Wednesday apps are sold through the iTunes App Store, the increased purchases help propel the applications up to higher spots in the App Store charts, making more people aware of them.

One Dollar Wednesday will offer 1 to 3 applications for $0.99 USD every Wednesday.
